Currently, we use 7 million disposable cups every day -
2.5 billion cups are thrown away every year, and less than 1% are recycled.
Just under 300 million tonnes of plastic are manufactured every year, around half of which ends up in our ocean, making up 80% of all marine debris.
The equivalent of one rubbish truck full of plastic is dumped into our oceans every minute, and by 2050 there will sadly be more plastic in the oceans than fish.
Our oceans create a huge percentage of the worlds oxygen and yet we are destroying this ecosystem by contributing to the plastic waste ending up there.
Every time we buy a coffee in a disposable cup or a bottled drink, we are adding to that crisis.
You can make a difference to the waste ending up in the oceans.
We have linked with the charity Just One Ocean, the UK registered charity. Their mission is to raise global awareness of the issues facing our marine and coastal environments to protect and conserve them for future generations.
